Prof. Dr. Bernd J. Hoefer – Chairman & CEO

Schooled at leading universities in Germany and Austria with a PhD from the University of Cologne, Dr. Hoefer's academic credentials include teaching tenures at the University of Applied Sciences Cologne and its counterpart in Bonn-Rhein-Sieg. Professionally, Dr. Hoefer's experience in global finance and technology spans nearly three decades with key roles in accounting (Certified Public Accountant), business consultancy and financial advisory at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), and duties as chief financial officer and chief innovation officer with the German Aerospace Centre (DLR) where he also served as vice chairman of the executive board.

From the privatization of Lufthansa German Airlines and various major airports including Dusseldorf, to aerospace research in materials, propulsion and navigation in association with NASA, and the European Space Agency (ESA), Dr. Hoefer's contribution to and involvement with high-tech developments and innovations is substantial. Additionally, Dr. Hoefer has served on the boards and committees of various technology leaders including the European Organization of Nuclear Research (CERN) Geneva, and the Centre for Science and Research Management (Speyer).

Since 2006 Dr. Hoefer is based in the Kingdom of Bahrain. He was engaged in many top projects and business ventures in Bahrain and GCC. In April 2008 he founded A9C Capital.

Andreas U. Buelow – Managing Partner

Mr. Buelow started his professional career with Allianz Group, the Munich based global insurance group. Starting as a financial analyst the Group’s Planning and Controlling department, his main duties related to financial and strategic analysis of the banking operations in Allianz Group. After a term as Executive Assistant with the Group’s CFO, Mr. Buelow was assigned to Bahrain as Deputy CFO for the newly created Allianz MENA and South Asia Region. In this capacity, he was heavily involved in the strategic management of the regional subsidiaries and in expansion projects for establishing new presences in the region. He also co-managed the start-up of Allianz Takaful as CFO, the Islamic Insurance subsidiary of Allianz Group, which is now operating successfully in Bahrain.

During his academic formation, Mr. Buelow focused on economics, finance and entrepreneurship. He holds an MBA with Honors from the International University of Monaco and a Diploma in Economics and Business Administration from the University of Hohenheim in Germany. While studying in Hohenheim, Mr. Buelow spent extensive time abroad with semesters at Emory University in Atlanta, USA, at Université de Nice in Nice, France, and at Università degli studi di Bologna in Forlì, Italy. During this time, he also worked with Lehman Brothers in Frankfurt, Germany, as an intern.
